This magnificent Baobab tree is typical of those found throughout sub Saharan Africa. African folklore says that in the creation each
animal was given it's own tree. The Baobab was given to the Hyena which threw it down in disgust. It landed the wrong way up and so
became known as "The Upside Down Tree". Some of these trees are believed to be around 1000 years old. The most famous collection
of these trees is found outside of Morondava in Madagascar and is known as the "Avenue of Baobabs". This is truly an "all purpose" tree providing food, shelter and clothing materials to the locals.
